In August 2009, the workshop “Innovating From Within: The Art of Hosting & Harvesting Conversations That Matter” attracted 85 participants and sparked a newconversation and community of practice.

It was the first time this way of working has been offered in New Zealand. Some who attended have focused their new skills since then on enhancing and strengthening connectedness and results within their organisations and some have applied what they learned to more effective participation in communities and with stakeholder groups. The results were immediate and they are catching on!

In March 2010 we offer a targeted series of events created to help you learn and integrate the success of this way of working. There are special rates across the event series.

One Day Workshops March 5 and 19 :  Participatory Leadership:  The Art of Hosting & Harvesting Conversations That Matter 5 March - Auckland and 19 March - Wellington

In every organisation, group and community people are calling for leadership.  They want leaders who can work in new and collaborative ways, show the way through chaos and take wise action.  This calls for a new look at how we define leadership, and how we invite participation so that all of us can commit and contribute. The key lies in looking both at what you choose to focus on and how you engage others in conversations that matter.  The Art of Hosting practice offers a strategic foundation for developing powerful questions, innovative ways to create containers for working together, and a set of methodologies that support people to step in, step up and take action.  If you are serious about unleashing the power of leadership in your group or organisation, this could be the most important choice you make for 2010.

March 11 – 13:  Teams Creating Strategic Results:  The Art of Hosting & Harvesting for Success (Wellington)
Throughout the public and private sectors there is a growing emphasis on “doing things differently”.  People want to work in new ways that unleash more powerful, positive results, placing new demands on those guiding change.  We need ways to form teams that can work quickly and effectively to release the energy and experience trapped within a group or organisational structure.  The Art of Hosting offers leadership, innovation and change teams a strategic process for working in ways that encourage collaboration, commitment and results.  Teams are encouraged to bring their projects and issues and work on them in real time.  This is a workshop designed to help teams get a leading edge on their teamwork, projects and strategic focus, working hands on on what matters most.  If you are serious about becoming a more effective and cohesive team, or you want new ways to enhance your results together, this event is for you.

March 15:  Bridging the Islands of Achievement so New Zealand is a great place to grow up (Wellington)
A group of key players for children and youth from social services, the private sector, not-for-profit, government and labour work issues came together to ask themselves how a new conversation about possibility could emerge.   They wanted to steer away from issues, failure and deficit thinking and create the container where those passionate about the future for our children could meet to share their dreams, resources and breakthrough thinking.  The focus is on “Islands of Achievement” because there are good things happening everywhere, even in small ways.  The key is bridging these islands and creating the landmass for new possibility.  This event offers a provocative focus and a highly participatory, group-centered process.
